An Almanac of Return is a monograph and travel journal written by Nahla Tabbaa emerging from Tabbaa’s solo exhibition Saad Al Khabaya: The Land Suddenly Pierces. Developed through four expeditions across Jordan during the winter and early spring of 2026, the work and writing unfolds alongside the Saads, the microseasons of Bilad Al Sham that symbolize rupture, survival, and emergence. Rooted in Saad al-Khabaya, the moment when the land pierces itself open to welcome light, flowers, rain, and sun, the project follows the landscape as it cracks, blooms, and speaks.
