As It Folds captures a metamorphosis in which butterflies cocoon evolving forms of desire. 

Ruminating on his HIV diagnosis, Sean Philip Olalo ritualizes the solitary craft of origami. He expands this artistic meditation by placing butterflies on the skin of men he meets, transforming paper into what he believes is the closest he can get to touching other bodies. The butterfly, papered, folded, and creased, becomes an artistic gesture of fragile hope, as it continues to bear lasting effects of queer histories. From an intimate distance, Olalo captures fleeting desire at rest.
